Depression era kitchen


I think this kitchen is very interesting.  It certainly is a work room.  The newspaper above the stove looks like a terrible fire hazard.  But the little girl, who is clearly poor, looks so happy and healthy.

I bet that was during the dust bowl. My grandparents glued newspaper to the inside of their house during the dust bowl to try to keep some of it out. Their walls were a single layer of 1x12 boards with every crack an entry for wind and dust.
