The trouble with bamboo

Bamboo is a handy and quite lovely plant.  But if it gets away from you, it's evil.  We have some planted near the corner of our garage and it got under the garage clapboards and tangled itself so badly into the honeysuckle that we had to remove the honeysuckle to get the bamboo.

John has been busy with that the past few days.  He took down the trellis and removed the bamboo and honeysuckle and some damaged clapboards.  I think the worst is over now.  I am happy to say I haven't had much to do with this project.  There isn't enough room for both of us.

This is the honeysuckle stump with bamboo woven in.

Here  you can see some of the bamboo runners.

Here is the honeysuckle in its hey day.  I shall miss it and so will the hummingbirds.

They talk about bamboo being a renewable source of wood for floors and furniture but I didn't know it would be so invasive. Can you kill the root or completely dig it out?
