We had a three day hot spell.  It was hard on the tulips but they look good.

Portland is growing way too fast.  I feel such a sense of loss and impending loss.  In the meantime, I treasure what I have.

Here comes the heat

We are going to have record breaking heat later in the week.  They say it will reach 80.  In early April.  We don't usually hit our first 80 degree day until mid May....arrrrrgggghh.  On the other hand, John just told me that where we used to live it is 24 and snowing with an expected low tonight of 19....glad I am not there.

I am sure these won't last through the heat.

House Painting

John painted what we call the bump out.  He also painted the trellis.  We took it down for the painting which was a bit hard on the roses.  After we put the trellis back we replanted the small area in front of the bump out, including moving a couple of roses.... hence the parasols protecting the roses from the hot sun.   The parasols are tied to rebar with garden twine.

Parasols and rebar have become staples in our gardening, especially rebar.  It makes great stakes.  Easy to put in.  Sturdy.  The ridges keep ties from slipping.

Walking in the neighborhood

We are having really beautiful weather.  It's unseasonably warm which is very nice but also a little scary.  That is how last year started and it was the summer from hell.  Anyway, I digress....
